Innocent Flow Murmur
You are listening to a typical example of an innocent flow murmur due to abnormally high flow through normal valves. You will notice that the murmur is in early systole, has a definite start and end point, is crescendo-decrescendo in shape, and could be described as vibratory or twangy in quality. It is important to note, however, that this very same murmur could be pathologic, perhaps due to
aortic stenosis. As mentioned in the murmur overview, it can be difficult to tell whether a murmur is significant or not, and the clinical scenario in which you heard a murmur such as this would greatly affect your interpretation of it.
